Harvard lectures to be broadcast at Omaha Public Library

A series of upcoming lectures at the Omaha Public Library focus on current world events.

OPL is part of a pilot program with Harvard University’s Institute of Politics to air three live broadcasts of lectures on political issues. The first is Tuesday, and focuses on Iran policy.

Omaha Public Library spokeswoman Emily Getschman says the lectures meet a library goal of community engagement.

"These are relevant topics and we just want to bring people together to have these discussions and be able to help be a part of that and moderate those discussions for people to share ideas and consider some other viewpoints."

The October 1 broadcast features former U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson. The third lecture broadcast is on November 18th. It features Tom Brokaw, and a Harvard professor of government and history. The lectures are broadcast from the John F. Kennedy, Junior, Forum at Harvard.

More information is available at www.omahalibrary.org. All three programs will be broadcast at the library’s Abrahams Branch.
