The Heartland Latino Leadership Conference takes place next week

By Cheril Lee

Omaha, NE – The theme for the 12th annual Heartland Latino Leadership Conference is "Maximizing Latino Leadership and Cultivating Community Power."

The conference takes place November 3rd and 4th in LaVista. President Athena Ramos says the 2-day event serves as a great resource for area businesses to gain an understanding of and increase their accessibility to the multi-cultural workplaces that exist today. She says workshops will focus on personal, corporate and community development.

Ramos says a new event this year is the Latino Youth Rally, "which is targeted primarily for high school and college students. This is an opportunity for them to get to know one another a little bit more and also get to learn more about what it takes to keep moving forward and to stay motivated throughout your higher education career and as you move into a professional environment."

The conference begins with a welcome reception at TD Ameritrade Park on Thursday the 3rd at 5:30. The workshops and expo take place at Embassy Suites in La Vista on Friday the 4th.
