Hello Code classes available at Do Space

Hello Code is Omaha’s first free code school. The one month program is an introductory course for adults on web development.

Rebecca Stavick, Executive Director at Do Space, says if you’re comfortable using a computer, mouse and keyboard and you have an email address, you are welcome to sign up for Hello Code.

She says those who sign up will meet once a week with an instructor at Do Space who will answer questions.

Stavick says throughout the month though, students will also be expected to work through modules on HTML and CSS.

She says the goal is for students to have created and published their first website by the end of the course.

"This would be great for anyone interested in technology but isn’t sure if coding is right for them.  It’s a totally free program too so you won’t be losing any money at the end of the month if you decide it’s not right for you.  But for budding entrepreneurs this would be perfect as well because if you’re trying to code a website for your business, this would be a great kick start to get you started.”

Stavick says Do Space wanted to create an inclusive environment for community to come in and utilize existing curriculum from internet.

She says Do Space is partnering with CodeSchool.com for the course and using their online resources in a community environment. The class meets at Do Space on Wednesdays at 5:30 throughout June.

The deadline to register is May 20th.  For more information, the website is dospace.org/events/hello-code.
