The Holiday Lights Festival Kicks Off on Thanksgiving

The 15th annual Holiday Lights Festival kicks off Thanksgiving evening at 6:00 p.m.

That’s when Mayor Jean Stothert will light up the Gene Leahy Mall.  Emily Peklo, Project Manager for the Holiday Lights Festival, says the festivities will begin on Thanksgiving and run through January 4th, 2015.

Peklo says the annual lighting celebration will be followed by a concert at the Holland Center titled Making Spirits Bright.

"We have a lot of our Old Market friends who will be participating and open on Thanksgiving.  So you can go down to the Old Market and enjoy those shops and then come to the lighting ceremony.  And there is a list of shops that are open during that time period on our website.”

Peklo says other activities include Sounds of the Season concerts on Saturdays at the mall, the Wells Fargo Family Festival on Sunday, December 7th and the New Year’s Eve Fireworks Spectacular.
