Home Instead Provides "Missing Senior Network" For Families

The Missing Senior Network is a free service created by Home Instead designed to help families locate an elder family member who has wandered off.

Mark Goetz, Managing Director of Home Instead/Omaha, says since people with Alzheimer’s or other types of dementia often retain their long-term memory, they may try to visit familiar places or people from their past when they wander off.

“We can alert a contact via text or via e-mail, and there is a response link that goes out that they can respond to, along with a picture of the missing senior, and the person on the other end will get a text that says, “Jane Doe is missing, have you seen her – more info -- and then there’s a link that they can click on that then takes them to the alert and then allows them to connect with the family.”

Goetz says families can enter the names of individuals and businesses they think their loved one may visit.  He says this is the first time that this has been available in the United States.
