HRC Announces a Grassroots Effort to Advance LGBT Equality in NE

Brad Clark, Director of HRC’s Project One America, says over the last few years, there has been incredible progress for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Americans across the country.

Clark says the problem is that this progress has mainly been isolated to those individuals living on the coasts.

He says the Human Rights Campaign believes that protections for LGBT Americans’ families and their rights in the workplace shouldn’t be determined by a zip code.

Clark says HRC is currently in the process of hiring staff on the ground that will travel and work across the state.

"We are going to be working with allies on the ground: clergy, faith leaders as well as community leaders and business leaders to try and initially start a conversation but also provide resources to people to create a more inclusive and safe atmosphere for LGBT people living in Nebraska.”

Clark says HRC also wants to ensure that LGBT people across the country have access to jobs free from discrimination. For more information, visit HRC.organd find Nebraska. Clark says the site will then direct you to HRC’s organizer in Nebraska.
