I-80 reopened in Council Bluffs after fast repairs

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa (AP) — Iowa officials have reopened a stretch of eastbound Interstate 80 that was closed after a roadway shoulder collapsed in Council Bluffs.

Iowa Transportation Department engineer Troy Jerman says the pavement patch cured in time for use by 8 a.m. Thursday.

Jerman says a portion of the interstate shoulder collapsed about 8:15 p.m. Wednesday as workers were installing a pipe under the roadway.

A void that ran under the eastbound lanes was discovered, so they were closed to traffic.
