International Nutrition to lay off 25 employees

An Omaha industrial plant that was the site of a fatal accident in mid-January will lay off 25 employees.

In a statement issued Friday, International Nutrition president Steve Silver says the company has no choice but to lay off employees following the fire and collapse at the south Omaha plant. Two people were killed and ten injured in the industrial accident.

Silver says International Nutrition has had to outsource its production, and plans to rebuild the Omaha plant. He says they hope to hire back the 25 employees at that time. In the meantime, those employees will receive severance packages.

OSHA is investigating the January 20th industrial accident. Silver anticipates it’ll be months before International Nutrition can tear down the plant and rebuild.

International Nutrition manufactures food and vitamin products for animals.
