Iowa Mission of Mercy brings free dental care to Council Bluffs

As many as two thousand people could receive free dental care Friday and Saturday at an event in Council Bluffs.

The Iowa Mission of Mercy is a free, two-day dental clinic. Dentists from all over the state travel to a location each year to provide free dental work to people needing critical care. This year, Mission of Mercy will be at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs.

Dr. Cary Jackson is a Council Bluffs dentist. This is his sixth year participating in Mission of Mercy.

"There’s definitely a percentage of the population that don’t have access to care, so we’re just trying to help as many people as we can in our field, which is dentistry. And so it’s a great event as far as getting people healthier, and also it really brings joy to me to see all these people volunteering their time and their skills to make this happen."

This is the eighth year of Mission of Mercy. The Mid-America Center will open at 6 a.m. for the event.
