Iowa Transportation Commission Holds Public Input Meeting Next Week

Four times a year, the Iowa DOT’s Transportation Commission holds public meetings to gather input from the community.

Shawn Majors, Transportation Planner, says the next meeting takes place June 9th at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs.

He says the Iowa DOT does its best to rotate the location of the meetings throughout the state so that everyone has a chance to be heard.

"And it’s an opportunity for the public to address the commission and talk about different transportation issues relating to either DOT’s transportation improvement program, our transportation polices or any of the different modes: highways, aviation, rail, river, bicycle, pedestrian and public transit.”

Majors says the Iowa DOT has significant investments included in their five year program, including interstate work in Council Bluffs and Sioux City.

He says the meeting provides individuals the option to address the commission face to face and bring up any issues they have to the commission’s attention.

The meeting begins at 8:00 a.m.  For more information, the number is 515-239-1288.
