Iowa West Foundation Awards $4 Million in Funding

The Iowa West Foundation recently awarded $4 million in grant and initiative funding.

Pete Tulipana, President & CEO of the Iowa West Foundation, says one of the new things included in this cycle of grants is multi-year funding for local and regional arts organizations.

Tulipana explains this move comes behind a commitment the foundation made three years ago to a group of human service organizations in Council Bluffs to provide multi-year funding.

He says this means organizations can spend time focusing on their delivery and capacity building as well as their mission, as opposed to applying for funds.

Tulipana says in this cycle the foundation is funding a number of arts amenities in the same manner.

"They’re important in a couple ways.  Every organization needs those unrestricted operating funds to help them.  And for us in Southwest Iowa, it allows these arts organizations to do the outreach that we want to encourage them to do into the communities of Southwest Iowa and make sure our families in that area are accessing these tremendous amenities as well as those throughout all of metro Omaha.”

Tulipana says the arts organizations that received funding included Ballet Nebraska, Durham Museum, Joslyn Art Museum, Opera Omaha and The Rose Theater among others.
