Iowan dies in accident on Interstate 80 in Omaha

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — The driver of a disabled vehicle has been struck and killed on Interstate 80 in Omaha.

Police say 44-year-old Michael Holcomb, of Council Bluffs, Iowa, was hit around 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday about a mile west of the 42nd Street interchange.

Witnesses told police that Holcomb had gotten out of his sport utility vehicle, which was parked on the inside shoulder of the eastbound lanes. Witnesses say Holcomb stepped into the far left lane and was hit by a semitrailer. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident is being investigated.
