Ira Combs, Jr. guest speaker at UNMC's MLK Day Event

Ira F. Combs, community health advocate and recipient of a “Champions of Change” award from the White House, will be the guest speaker at this year’s Martin Luther King Day, Jr. event, sponsored by UNMC.

Combs is a liaison with the African-American community, helping develop relationships and facilitating health care services such as screening and interventions for underserved populations.

Combs’ presentation is titled, “King, Health Care and His Letter from Birmingham Jail.”  Omaha keyboardist Nate Asad and drummer Billy Foeman Quartey will provide musical accompaniment.

The event takes place on Monday, January 20th at Noon and is free of charge.

There will be shuttles transporting people from public parking at 45th and Leavenworth Streets to the Clarkson Tower.  These will run from 11:30 to Noon, before the event and 1:00 to 1:30 afterward.
