"Irving Berlin's White Christmas" opens tonight at the Orpheum

Irving Berlin’s White Christmas is onstage at the Orpheum Theatre tonight through Sunday.

The show tells the story of two showbiz buddies who decide to put on a show in a beautiful Vermont inn owned by their former Army general.  Sean Montgomery plays “Bob Wallace,” the same character Bing Crosby played in the movie version.

Montgomery says he loves playing Bob primarily because of the songs he gets to sing.

Now in his third year of playing Bob, Montgomery says he is still discovering new things about the character.

"This year, revisiting it after only 10 months, I am finding so many new things in this character and I am like ‘Ohmigosh, this is what he’s going through here. What was I thinking last year?’ Stuff like that will come up.  And it’s really cool because you get that time to do it.  And that’s what’s different from something like a movie or a TV show.  You kind of have to do that in the moment and that’s it and it’s locked down.  But with this, you still get to continue to discover it year after year.”

Montgomery says White Christmas has a nostalgic feeling with a warm Christmas spirit but is definitely a Broadway show with incredible songs, beautiful sets and lots of singing and dancing.
