The Nebraska Jazz Orchestra presents a night of music with special guest trumpeter Greg Gisbert in “On The Road” Wednesday, October 25th, 2017 in Lincoln, Nebraska. Greg Gisbert grew up in a musical family in Denver, Colorado and is highly revered in the trumpet community. During his time at the Berklee College of Music, Gisbert was  offered the opportunity to go on the road with the Buddy Rich Big Band and has since performed with Woody Herman’s Big Band, John Fedchock, Maria Schneider, Gary Burton, Lew Anderson, and Toshiko Akiyoshi. Additionally, Gisbert is a founding member of Convergence, whose members include Paul Romaine on drums and Jon Gunther on saxophone. Gisbert has most recently been playing lead trumpet with the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra in New York City, led by Wynton Marsalis. Greg Gisbert will join the NJO for a night of music on Wednesday, October 25 at 7:30pm at the Cornhusker Marriott, 333 South 13th Street, Lincoln, Nebraska. On Thursday, Oct. 26th, the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) will host the United States Army Field Band Jazz Ambassadors. The performance, which is free and open to the public, will take place at 7:30 p.m. at the Strauss Performing Arts Center.
Even though there is no cost to attend, tickets are required for entry. Individuals can request up to four tickets that will be available at will-call by calling 402.554.3427. All seating is general admission.
Formed in 1969, the Jazz Ambassadors is a 19-member ensemble that has received great acclaim at home and abroad. The band's repertoire spans the history of jazz including big band, bebop, Latin, contemporary, Dixieland, patriotic selections and more.
