Jazz on the Green starts next week

Jazz on the Green at Midtown Crossing starts July 5th and runs six consecutive Thursdays through August 11th

Concerts take place at 7:30 each night on the permanent stage of The Pavilion at Turner Park and are free of charge.

Laura Kendall, Vice President of Programming and Education for Omaha Performing Arts, says local musicians Gooch and His Las Vegas Big Band kick things off on July 5th

Kendall says jazz vocalist Christine Hitt will sing with the band.  Kendall says each concert features preshow music.

"July 12th we have the BluesEd band Five Minute Drive.  July 19th we have the UNO Jazz Combo 1 opening up for us.  And July 26th we have the Brandon Armstrong Quarter.  We are really starting to look for those up and coming young bands in town.”

Other Jazz on the Green performers include Shayna Steele with a fusion of jazz, R&B and soul and the No BS! Brass Band.
