Jazz Heritage series with The United States Air Force Band Airmen of Note airs Friday

Second program will feature Kurt Rosenwinkel. KIOS presents the three-part 2011 Jazz Heritage series with The USAF Airmen of Note and special guests Fridays at 2:00PM July 8 and 15 and 22nd.

The second installment of the series, airing July 15th will feature jazz guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel. A gifted multi-directional musician, Rosenwinkel is known for his distinct sound and style of improvisation that is influenced by artists as diverse as Allan Holdsworth, Duke Ellington, Elmo Hope and the Notorious B.I.G. Rosenwinkel is a native of Philadelphia and currently resides in Berlin and serves as professor of jazz guitar at the Hochschule fur Musik Hanns Eisler.

The Jazz Heritage Concert Series showcases the United States Air Force Airmen of Note with special guests. The Airmen of Note is the premier jazz ensemble of the United States Air Force. It is comprised of eighteen musicians who tour throughout the United States twice a year, one of the few big bands these days to do so, in addition to international and jazz festival performances.

This year's series is guest hosted by Dick Golden.
