Joey Gulizia and the G Notes scheduled to performBy Chris Cooke

Omaha, Nebraska – The Jazz on Stage series at the Grand Olde Players Theatre continues Sunday with a performance by the G Notes.

Led by Joey Gulizia, the G Notes feature some of the area's best musicians including the legendary Joe Genovesi on clarinet. The group plays Mainstream, New Orleans, and Latin Jazz.

Gulizia specializes in percussion with his collection of instruments from around the world. In addition to playing with many local jazz groups, Gulizia has been a featured artist with the Omaha Symphony, the Nebraska Jazz Orchestra, the Nebraska Brass and other musical groups. Since 1979, Gulizia has conducted hundreds of weeklong residencies in schools through the Nebraska Arts Council and works as a jazz clinician in schools and universities throughout the Midwest. This November Gulizia and his brother Tony will again host a Caribbean cruise with Pegasus Travel of Omaha.

The concert with Joey Gulizia and the G Notes begins at 6:00pm Sunday at the Grand Olde Players Theatre. There will be an open jam session in the theatre lobby at 5:00pm, allowing the students of music and the pros the opportunity to jam together and exchange musical ideas. Admission is free to the concert and jam session at the Grand Olde Players Theatre, located at 2339 North 90th Street.

Chris Cooke is the host of Jazz in the Afternoon and Last Call on KIOS-FM.
