Joslyn Receives Grant to Support Artist Visit

Joslyn Art Museum will bring award-winning author and children’s book illustrator Dan Yaccarino to Omaha.

His visit is made possible thanks to a $10,000 Challenge America Fast-Track Grant, awarded to the Joslyn by the National Endowment for the Arts.

The Challenge America Fast-Track Grants are meant to support projects that extend the reach of the arts to underserved populations.

Jack Becker is the Executive Director for the Joslyn. He says while Yaccarino will participate in a number of programs across Omaha in April.

"He will be here doing readings and demonstrations.  I know we are also going to be working with agencies like Completely Kids, Midlands Mentoring Partnership, the Kent Bellows Studio, Omaha Public Library and Omaha Public Schools.  So I am sure there will be a lot of hands on activities.”

Yaccarino is best known for his work on several animated TV series, including Willa, Oswald’s Wild Life and The Backyardigans.

Beginning January 12th, the Joslyn will offer an exhibit called The Fantastic World of Dan Yaccarino, featuring more than 80 works from the artist.  The exhibition runs through April 14th
