Kaneko UNO Library to hold first ever Information Exchange

The Kaneko UNO Library will present its first Information Exchange conference on Friday, September 25th from 9-4.

Melinda Kozel is the library manager. She says the day includes panels that focus on misconceptions and barriers to information, responsibilities and the impetus to act, and initiating solutions and broadening communication.

She says Libraries without Borders will attend the conference with their ideas box. It’s a portable library system they take all over the world, particularly to refugee camps as well as other remote areas.

Kozel says there will also be a keynote speaker.

"Alice Dreger is an author, a writer and an advocate for ethics in medicine and science.  She is also an historian.  And she will be talking about her work and how evidence and the access to truth is the most important for social progress.”

Kozel says the conference focuses on challenging the idea of what a library is and what we use them for because she says libraries aren’t just a place to hold books.

She says the conference is all about how people can create resource spaces where communities can access information.  Registration for the free event is available online at library.unomaha.edu/kaneko.
