Chris Cooke with David Basse (24:40)

Omaha, Nebraska – Kansas City vocalist David Basse will perform with the Mike Melvoin Trio this weekend in Council Bluffs.

Basse, a veteran jazz vocalist, drummer, bandleader and public radio jazz host, has been a leading presence on the Kansas City Jazz Scene for the last 20 years. As a bandleader David has led his own band, The City Light Orchestra, to performances all over the world including the 1997 Inaugural Gala for President Clinton. Sustaining the tradition started by Jay McShann, Count Basie and Charlie Parker, Basse's rich voice has reminded listeners of Ray Charles, Mel Torme, and Dr. John-while radiating its own distinctive depth and color.

David Basse will perform with the Mike Melvoin Trio Friday and Saturday night at 7pm at The Auditorium for the Enrichment of Life located at Longfellow Elementary School, 2011 South 10th Streets, Council Bluffs, Iowa.

The concert is another in a series of performances with the Jazz Arts Midwest Series. For more information visit the website at www.jazzartsmidwest.us
