Keeping Your Brain Young

“Keeping Your Brain Young” is the next offering in the Visiting Nurse Association’s Senior Speaker Series.

Cheryl Havekost is a Clinical Liaison Specialist for the VNA. She says she’s worked with a lot of the independent and assisted-living population, and that is always a top concern.

Havekost says seniors often ask her if there are steps they can take to keep their brains sharp.  She says Dr. Dennis Dunning, a speech pathologist specializing in cognitive function, will be the guest speaker.

"He will talk a lot about how the brain functions.  And when there’s a breakdown in the brain, how it happens, where it happens and what can occur.  And then what he will do is talk about specific activities people can do that will help them become a little sharper and maintain what they have.”

“Keeping Your Brain Young” will be presented in Omaha on Wednesday, November 9th from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the VNA headquarters.

The same program will also be offered in Council Bluffs on Tuesday, November 19th
