Kids can head inside to play outside in the Big Backyard

By Cheril Lee

Omaha, NE – Kids can play in the Big Backyard all fall and winter despite the changes in the weather.

The Omaha Children's Museum is presenting the Big Backyard Exhibit through April 10th. Marketing Manager Christina Kahler says the exhibit is a larger-than-life 10,000 square foot backyard under one roof. She says the centerpiece of the display is the Richman Gordman Zooland animals that have been restored for a new generation of kids. Additionally, she says there are huge play structures, a garden shed and dig pits. Kahler says there's also a discovery path with live trees and foliage from Mulhall's and a dock area with a kayak, fishing poles and a little camping site. Kahler says, "this is a huge exhibit full of lots and lots of things to do, especially as it is starting to get chilly outside. This is a perfect opportunity for kids to come and really enjoy a space that's going to seem like the outdoors inside."

Kahler says the exhibit was developed locally with numerous community partners. For more details on the Big Backyard Exhibit, the web site is www.ocm.org.
