Live Well Omaha Commuter Challenge focuses on alternative transportation

Live Well Omaha’s Commuter Challenge is underway through the end of September.

The challenge encourages everyone to walk, ride a bicycle, take the bus, or carpool to and from their daily activities. Madison Haugland is Active Living Coordinator for Live Well Omaha. She says there are benefits to doing something other than driving.

"It builds in physical activity in to your daily life, so you’re getting that extra half hour or however long it takes you to bike to work, or a little extra walking in your daily life, and also it helps improve air quality by reducing car trips."

Haugland says you can sign up for the Commuter Challenge and log all of the trips you make by walking, riding your bicycle, or taking the bus.
