Loessfest 2016 returns on Saturday, May 28th

Loessfest 2016 kicks off Saturday, May 28th with a Run Loess Half Marathon and continues through Sunday, June 5th with a variety of concerts and family-friendly activities.

All events take place at the Tom Hanafan River’s Edge Park in Council Bluffs. Mayor Matt Walsh says Loessfest is the official kick off to summer and people really look forward to it.

He says Kool and the Gang will be the headliners this year, performing on Sunday, May 29th with the Atlanta Rhythm Section.

And Walsh says the Omaha Symphony plays on Monday evening, followed by fireworks.

"The event culminates with Golfest on June 5th but on Thursday we have the old Sprite Night, bringing in the DJs to open up and afterwards there are cover bands that simulate the original acts from the 70s and some really great entertainers that you would think you’re looking at the original entertainer.”

Mayor Walsh says the surface parking at the venue will not be available this year due to the Council Bluffs riverfront project but parking is available on 9th Avenue behind Harrah’s Casino.

Loessfest 2016 runs from Saturday, May 28th through Sunday, June 5th. There is no charge for any of the events and information is available at Loessfest.com.
