Looking to the future of south Omaha

By Katie Knapp Schubert

Omaha, NE – After more than a year of planning, the South Omaha Development Project Master Plan is moving forward.

Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce officials unveiled the plan earlier this week. Project Coordinator Karen Mavropoulos says six core areas make up the Master Plan: neighborhoods, commercial centers and corridors is the second one, industry and employment, parks and recreation, transportation and mobility, and marketing and tourism.

Some items in the Master Plan will begin to take shape in the next six to 12 months. Others will take up to 20 years.

The Plan is based on a series of community meetings and surveys.
