Lt. Governor's son seriously injured in accidental shooting

By Katie Knapp Schubert

Omaha, NE – Nebraska Lieutenant Governor Rick Sheehy's son was seriously injured early Wednesday in what police describe as an accidental shooting.

Omaha Police were called to 21-year-old Joel Sheehy's apartment just before two AM. There, they found Sheehy suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to an Omaha hospital with serious injuries.

A statement from the Lieutenant Governor's office says the younger Sheehy was handling the gun when it went off, entering his right cheek and exiting behind his right ear. Sheehy is scheduled to undergo surgery Wednesday afternoon.
