M-AAA Partners with Omaha Creative Institute for Artist Training Program

Artist INCis a program focused on helping artists develop their entrepreneurial skills.

The Mid-America Arts Alliance is partnering with the Omaha Creative Institute to offer the program to 25 Omaha artists.

Mary Kennedy, CEO of the Mid-America Arts Alliance, says in addition to the participants, a group of six artists will facilitate sessions.

Kennedy says students typically come out of an MFA program well-trained to create art in their particular medium but they are not often equipped with the business skills they need to be successful as entrepreneurs.

"This program is designed to assist them with that.  It’s different from other entrepreneurial training programs because it is geared specifically for artists and challenges artists have as business people.  The training is provided by artists to artists.  The content of the training is geared specifically to their needs.”

Artist applications are being accepted until midnight on June 30th

Eight three-hour sessions will be held Tuesday evenings, beginning in September.
