Major winter storm leaving behind several inches of snow in Nebraska

HASTINGS, Neb. (AP) — As much as 8 inches of snow fell in south-central Nebraska overnight, but the storm will continue to drop snow across the state throughout the day.

The 8 inches of snow that fell in Wilsonville in southwest Nebraska near the border with Kansas was the highest overnight snow total.

Across much of western Nebraska 3-4 inches of snow fell overnight.

National Weather Service forecaster Shawn Jacobs says the snow is starting to pile up.

But the National Weather Service predicts heavy snow will continue to fall throughout the morning in central and western Nebraska. The snow will begin to fall in eastern Nebraska Thursday afternoon.
