Man critically injured in Omaha fire dies

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Omaha police say a man critically injured in a mobile home fire has died of his injuries, and homicide detectives are investigating.

Police say 57-year-old Craig Fuhrer died earlier Wednesday morning at the Nebraska Medical Center.

Emergency crews were called just after midnight to Maplewood Estates in northwest Omaha, where firefighters saw light smoke coming from Fuhrer's home. Inside, firefighters found Fuhrer unconscious in a back bedroom.

Paramedics took Fuhrer in extremely critical condition to the hospital, where he died. Officials say the fire was contained to the living room.

An autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday.
