The Metropolitan Area Planning Agency is taking public comments on its Draft Joint Land Use Study and Background Report on Offutt Air Force Base through August 15th.
Matt Roth, MAPA Project Manager, says in the background report, MAPA outlines both major and minor issues.
He says minor issues are things like vehicle exhaust from idling cars from people waiting to get onto the base.
Roth says major issues might be things like making sure buildings around certain areas of the base do not exceed height restrictions. He says the main purpose of the study is to be a preventative document.
"We look to have our policy committee approve the JLUS on August 20th. After that, we go into an implementation phase where we will look to go to the local communities and request that they approve the JLUS through a resolution of support. And the hope is they will also appoint someone to an implementation committee so that we can have broad representation for all those in the area.”
