MAPA Seeks Public Input on Long Range Transportation Plan

The Metropolitan Area Planning Agency is currently offering an online survey to obtain public input on its long range transportation plan.

Michael Felschow, Program Director for MAPA, says in order to get access to federal funding for our region, MAPA must have a plan that covers more than 20 years of projects focused on highways, driving and other modes of transportation.

Felschow says MAPA tries to engage the public and other stakeholders in its planning process.  Right now, residents are encouraged to take a questionnaire on MAPA’s website to give their input.

"To ask citizens what they think about the transportation situation out there, what are their basic concerns, what would they like to see, how are they using the transportation system.  And we are going to take this information and try to develop goals and objectives from that input."

Felschow says the survey will be available for about a year and only takes about 5-10 minutes to complete.

He says MAPA will use that information along with data from other surveys conducted over the last few years to try and develop projects that meet the needs of the community.

The survey is available in both English and Spanish atmapacog.org/long-range-transportation-planning.
