MAPA Seeks Public Input on TIP projects

Each year the Metropolitan Area Planning Agency puts out a document called the Transportation Improvement Program or the TIP.

Greg Youell, Executive Director for MAPA, says the TIP lists all the projects in the metro area that are receiving federal funds.

He says this is a good time to check in with the public find out if these the projects are the ones the metro needs to be focusing on to help improve our transportation system and our quality of life here.

Through April 27th, the public is being asked to review the new projects that have been added to the TIP.

"That includes the Bus Rapid Transit project that Metro Transit is working on along the Dodge Street corridor in Omaha, the North Downtown Pedestrian Bridge project which would connect the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge across the railroad tracks next to the CenturyLink Center and in LaVista they are proposing an Applewood Creek Trail project between Giles and Harrison Streets.”

Written comments regarding the Fiscal Year 2016 TIP projects should be submitted by 4:00 p.m. on April 27th.  Comments may be emailed to mapa@mapacog.org.
