Mayor Suttle Recall Committee begins its petition drive next week

By Katie Knapp Schubert

Omaha, NE – A committee seeking to recall Omaha Mayor Jim Suttle plans to pick up its petitions next week.

The Mayor Suttle Recall Committee announced its upcoming campaign events during a news conference Friday. Once committee members pick up the petitions, volunteers have 30 days to collect 26,643 signatures.

Committee co-spokesperson Nicole Jesse says they plan to gather signatures at an Omaha Nighthawks game, as well as political rallies and restaurants. The Recall Committee also plans to go door-to-door.

Meanwhile, a new committee has been formed opposing the recall efforts. Reports say the Committee to Keep Omaha Moving Forward has the backing of Omaha philanthropist Richard Holland.
