MECA chairman responds to stadium decision
By Katie Knapp
Omaha, NE – MECA Chairman David Sokol says he's disappointed in the Stadium Oversight Committee's selection of Lots C and E for a new ballpark. MECA voted last week to reject any plan for a new stadium to be built on those parking lots. Sokol says the group's position hasn't changed and that permission will not be granted for the use of those lots.
In his statement, Sokol also urges the city to secure a five-year deal with the NCAA, then have detailed discussions with MECA and the public to reach an agreement everyone is satisfied with.
