Voters in the Omaha Public Schools’ Subdistrict 8 will select Lacey Merica or William Forsee as their next representative.
Subdistrict 8 includes parts of south Omaha and Bellevue. Merica is a former administrative aide to State Senator Heath Mello. She says OPS should measure student success through the progress of each individual student. Merica says OPS should be fiscally responsible and explore more partnerships.
Forsee taught for 37 years. He supports additional opportunities for OPS students, including more career-focused programs. Forsee, a Bellevue resident, wants so-called STEM, or science, technology, engineering, and math, programs expanded.
Omaha’s general election is next Tuesday.
