Omaha, NE – Metropolitan Community College's new Culinary Institute is open.
The new building opened Monday. It includes the Sage Student Bistro, a demonstration kitchen, and theory labs for students to learn the fundamentals. The 35,000 square foot, state of the art facility also houses seven kitchens, a chocolate laboratory and a bakery.
MCC Marketing Director Sheila O'Connor says environmentally friendly building practices were used in the new Culinary Institute, including an underground tank that stores rainwater from the roof to irrigate the surrounding lawn.
