Metro Community College working on new Facilities Master Plan

By Katie Knapp Schubert

Omaha, NE – Metro Community College hosts two meetings this week to get public input on its facilities master plan.

The first meeting is Monday at the South Omaha Campus' Industrial Technology Center. Metro last updated its facilities master plan in 2002. Executive Vice President Jim Grotrian says an updated plan is important to meeting the area's changing needs. "It's important that we continue to position the college for the future, respond to the needs of the community, and do a good job of providing affordable, accessible and quality education to the citizens of our four counties," Grotrian says.

Enrollment this spring quarter is up 2,000 students over last year. The Fremont and south Omaha campus experienced the most growth during that time. The college also opened its new Institute for Culinary Arts this past winter.

Metro's second facilities master plan public meeting is Wednesday from noon to two pm at the Fremont campus.
