Midland University names new president

Midland University has named its next president.

Jody Horner becomes Midland’s new president on February first. She’s currently president of Cargill Meat Solutions and Cargill Case Ready in Wichita, Kansas. Horner says the Midland University board’s vision for the campus attracted her to the job.

"Midland is currently a little over 1,300 students, which is more than double where we were approximately five years ago, and it’s certainly the board’s vision, and I share this vision, that there’s significant opportunity to expand the institution to serving more kids. We’re targeting somewhere in the range of 1,600 to 2,000 students."

Horner also previously served on the Board of Regents of St. Olaf College in Minnesota.

Midland University board chairman Gary Perkins says there were 200 candidates for the job. Current Midland University president Ben Sasse is resigning at the end of the year after winning election to the U.S. Senate.
