MMP's Annual Mentoring Summit set for next week

Midlands Mentoring Partnership is holding its 5th Annual Mentoring Summit and Youth Development Luncheon next Wednesday, March 19th.

Deborah Neary, Executive Director for MMP, says the afternoon will feature workshops with mentoring experts, and a keynote by Paul Tough.

Neary says Tough is the New York Times’ best-selling author of How Children Succeed: Grit, Curiosity & the Hidden Power of Character.

Awards will be presented to the Mentor of the Year and the Mentoring Advocate of the Year.

"This event not only helps us create awareness about mentoring but it also gives us a chance to recognize some folks or agencies that have been pretty outstanding in supporting mentoring and we will be giving a Mentor of the Year Award to a Big Brother/Big Sister Mentor and that story is a tear jerker and pretty awesome.

Neary says MMP is also giving an award to Mutual of Omaha. The company has 50 employees who mentor at a variety of different mentoring agencies.

The Midlands Mentoring Partnership Summit and Luncheon takes place Wednesday, March 19th at CenturyLink Center.
