More than 400 plays submitted for Theatre Conference

By Katie Knapp

Omaha, NE – More than 400 plays were submitted for consideration in this year's Great Plains Theatre Conference.

Omaha's Metropolitan Community College hosts the weeklong event. The fourth annual GPTC is May 23rd through the 30th. Creative Director Kevin Lawler says of the 400 submissions, 56 will be chosen and presented at the Conference.

New this year to the GPTC is the Mainstage Series. Lawler says it'll feature the Conference's top five plays. The playwrights will come to Omaha a week before the Conference to rehearse their plays with a local cast, and present them to all attendees.

Lawler says the Great Plains Theatre Conference is growing in popularity, and this year's submitted plays came from throughout the country.
