More severe weather possible

By Katie Knapp

Omaha, NE – The National Weather Service says another round of severe thunderstorms is headed toward the Omaha metro area Thursday night.

The Omaha metro area was hit with hail, heavy rain and strong winds Wednesday night. The tornadic thunderstorms affected southwest Iowa and areas near Lancaster County.

The NWS says Omaha is under a high risk of severe weather today, with large hail, damaging winds and strong tornadoes possible. Severe thunderstorms could also bring more heavy rain to areas already flooded.

A tornado watch means conditions are favorable for the development of severe weather. A tornado warning means either Doppler radar is indicating a tornado or trained weather spotters have observed one.
