Movin' After School Night focuses on exercise, healthy eating

By Katie Knapp Schubert

Omaha, NE – An initiative of Live Well Omaha comes to Lewis and Clark Middle School Tuesday evening.

Movin' After School Night focuses on exercise and healthy eating. Once a year, the Greater Omaha After School Alliance holds a Movin' After School event. Corrie Caler of GOASA says it's important that the message of eating healthy and exercising doesn't just reach kids. Our focus is educating the staff so the staff can role model for these children healthy habits, so these children can begin to learn and to actively participate in these habits. And that's why we want to get the families involved, because we feel that we want to extend the impact past the after-school time in to the family life as well."

Caler says GOASA works with Omaha's after-school programs to make sure children are getting at least 20 minutes of exercise as part of their activities.

Movin' After School Night begins at six PM at the Lewis and Clark Middle School Auditorium.
