"The Muslims Are Coming" to Film Streams

Film Streams, in collaboration with Middle East Cultural and Educational Services of Omaha, is presenting a special screening of The Muslims Are Coming tomorrow at 7:00 p.m.

Rachel Jacobson, Executive Director for Film Streams, says the documentary follows young Muslim-American comedians touring Middle America to fight some of the stereotypes people have about Muslims.

She says the screening and discussion are part of Film Streams’ Community Development Program, where Film Streams partners with different organizations to present collaborative film events.

"They are basically one-time screenings with a discussion component.  Sometimes we have an opportunity to bring in a special guest, like the director, but they are always in partnership with organizations that care about the content of the film.  And it’s a wonderful opportunity to learn about what’s happening in Omaha around the subjects of the film.”

The Muslims are Coming screens tomorrow night at 7 in Film Streams’ Ruth Sokolof Theater.

Jacobson says co-director and comedian Dean Obeidallah will be in attendance for a post-film discussion.
