National Weather Service predicting a calm start to spring
By Katie Knapp
Omaha, NE – Van DeWald is one of the lead meteorologists at the National Weather Service office in Valley. He says before yesterday, the area was three and a half inches above normal for snowfall this winter. But Dewald says it hasn't been colder than normal, and additional winter weather is expected over the next six weeks.
He predicts that early spring will bring above normal temperatures and no significant weather issues. DeWald says there is some research indicating there could be an earlier and more volatile severe weather season.
