NE Medicaid Chosen to Participate in Federal IAP

The Nebraska Medicaid program has been selected to participate in the Federal Innovation Acceleration Program or IAP.

Calder Lynch, DHHS Director of the Division of Medicaid and Long-Term Care, says the IAP is focused on helping states provide capacity for housing support for the individuals that Nebraska Medicaid serves in their long-term care programs.

Lynch says barriers to sustainable housing is one of the biggest issues they face in terms of helping people who need long-term support and services remain in their homes or in community-based settings rather than being institutionalized.

"And so we will be participating with other states in a series of webinars with the federal government that focus on helping us really learn what different funding sources and what different programs are available, help develop the connections with our state and local partners here in Nebraska that participate in the housing community and provide housing support, and really help develop some strategies to address those challenges.”

Lynch says the webinars began this month and will run through May.

He says Nebraska Medicaid is excited to develop relationships with local and state partners, learn more about what other states are doing and look for ways they can modify their programs and policies so they can better connect people to housing supports that exist today.
