OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Most in Nebraska's all-Republican congressional delegation turned their attention to President Barack Obama in the wake of a new State Department report that raised no major environmental objections to construction of the Keystone XL oil pipeline.
Representative Lee Terry, who has been a vocal proponent of the pipeline's construction, says in a statement that "President Obama is out of excuses."
Representative Adrian Smith called on Obama "to follow the science and facts," and U.S. Senator Mike Johanns says Obama should move quickly to approve construction, saying the pipeline "is in the best interest of our country."
A spokesman for U.S. Senator Deb Fischer said she was traveling Friday and could not be reached for comment. Representative Jeff Fortenberry's office did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
