Nebraska Advances to Women’s Volleyball Title Game After Win Over Kansas

Greg Echlin

A record crowd turned out for Thursday night’s semifinals of the NCAA women’s volleyball championship and saw the Huskers advance to the championship.

Huskers coach John Cook thinks the CenturyLink crowd rattled the Kansas Jayhawks as the Huskers jumped out quickly to win the first two sets.

“I think we got them in the first game because of the crowd, the atmosphere and everything,” said Cook.  “But, man, they started to play well.  I was really impressed.”

Kansas won the third set, but the Huskers finished strong to advance to their first championship match since winning it all in 2006.  The Huskers will take on Texas after the Longhorns eliminated Minnesota in the first semifinal match.
