Nebraska court lets transportation company expand in Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — The Nebraska Supreme Court has ruled that a transportation company which serves people with disabilities can expand its operations in Lincoln despite objections raised by taxi services.

The court on Thursday ruled that Golden Plains Services Transportation can proceed despite a number of consumer complaints. The ruling upholds an earlier decision by the Nebraska Public Service Commission.

Complaints against the firm include instances where a van arrived late and the customer missed a doctor or other medical appointment.

The company's owner, Kirby Young, has said the complaints are few compared to the 48,000 trips it provided between Mary 2014 and March 2015.

The cab companies argued that the company isn't fit to provide the service. They also argued the commission should have considered complaints against another company owned by Young.
