Nebraska Democrats set to caucus in state's 93 counties

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Thousands of Nebraska Democrats are set to gather in all of the state's 93 counties to make their choice for a presidential nominee.

The caucus Saturday is a rare chance for Democrats to wield some influence in a state where no Democrats hold statewide office and there's just one among the state's five-member congressional delegation.

The state party switched from a May presidential primary to an earlier caucus in 2008, in the hopes of having a say in the national race and in an effort to build the party. The move appears to have helped, with both Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton campaigning hard for the support of Nebraska's 25 delegates and five superdelegates.
